What the evidence supports: supplying vitamin A, B12, iron and copper; broader vitality claims are unsupported.
This scores how well-supported the claim above is — not how much benefit you personally would get. A high score on a narrow claim does not extend to everything the product is marketed for.
How long to take it
Optional, ongoing if it suits you — but track total vitamin A from all sources.
Who it's actually for
People who dislike eating liver but want its nutrients. Not necessary on a varied diet.
Safe upper limit
UnverifiedGoverned by preformed vitamin A: 3,000 mcg RAE per day for adults — check the label's vitamin A content
Liver is extremely rich in preformed vitamin A (retinol), which accumulates in the body. Stacked with a multivitamin or cod liver oil, it's easy to exceed the upper limit without noticing. Retinol is also a known cause of birth defects at high intakes.

Practical notes
- Avoid in pregnancy unless your clinician agrees — preformed vitamin A is the concern.
- Don't combine with cod liver oil or a high-retinol multivitamin without adding up the vitamin A.
- It is a food, not a medicine — claims about 'energy' or 'hormones' go well beyond the evidence.
- Also high in copper; people with Wilson's disease must avoid it.
